Sorry Stace’, you wouldn’t believe this but I just found Oftenbark on the computer. I didn’t know he could type.
Anyway I had a quick look at the message he sent and thought it was better to not read your email. It seemed private.
And in the future I have set up an email address for him if you want to correspond.
oftenbark@hotmail.com
Hope today is a better day.

Subject: Stacey here…
Dear Oftenbark…I’m not sure how often you check your emails…but wanted to send a quick one saying hello…so hello and welcome to the email world…
don’t worry I won’t pester you too much…but I hope you’re well and that Dom is treating you with kindness…
how is he by the way…
things going well with Elsa…
do you like her…?
Love
Stacey
wow, he's deflecting bad. I guess it shocked him she wasn't thinking about him... poor guy. Clever try but transparent... Glad she's playing along.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or does this seem sad for some reason? Poor Dom :(
ReplyDeleteI am rooting for 'Evil Dom' right now. Evil Dom has a master plan. He is ruthless and calculating.
ReplyDeleteEvil Dom is only dating Elsa as a mechanism by which he can demonstrate his worthiness in the mating scheme and lure Stacey into his field of fire.
Now that she is within range he will begin to dance around their shared relationship status and create and alternative psychological state henceforth referred to as 'The Fugue.' The Fugue is a magical place where people dance around feelings and use statements that mean nothing. They have long discussions that have no import in reality and carry no weight when the rent is due. In this place, unbeknown to Stacey, she will lose her sense of place in the world and succumb to the charms of Evil Dom.
Stacey will, probably on a late evening, fueled by several lagers and a bottle of cheap wine, become enraptured in the warm arms of The Fugue and Evil Dom's self-effacing banter and allow him to take her. She will feel like she has been transported to an ephemeral place inhabited by specters that inject fuzzy feelings between your legs and into your mind. She will become at one with the universe. Then at the crest of this wave of ecstasy, Evil Dom will say, "Fuck, I gotta get outta here. Email ya later."
Dom - Exit Stage Right, post-haste.
right now im more interested in their sign offs
ReplyDeleteagain, ill say it, Dom has no balls to say "i love you". Intead he signs off as Oftenbark with a 'Love, Oftenbark'
Then he signs off as "Dom"
Then Signs off as "dxxx"
meanwhile Stacey has been signing off as 'Love Stacey' for quite some time.
each sign off being intentionally and strategically placed to entrap the other.
This love story to's and fros more than the ebbs and tides of the moon.
Staceys last email is attentioned to Oftenbark, but its ambiguous whether shes asking about often barks relationship with Elsa or Doms.
two can play that game...
I think she's rather insidious trying to use Oftenbark to snoop on Dom and Elsa's relationship like that!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing Anon 10:55.
ReplyDeleteChris, I wonder if Dom is keeping it fantastic so he doesn't have to accept she wasn't thinking of him. I agre I lvoe she plays along.
ReplyDeleteAnon (1:53) I know what you mean it does seem sad. I think it seems sad because Dom is 'joking' around as opposed to accepting the reality in an adult way.
ReplyDeleteThough part of me also thinks; screw being an adult.
Sketpic; love your style. Evil Dom - huh!? Please continue your alternative universe narrative.
ReplyDeleteI love it and perahps those demanding a faster romantic and physical resolve will be rewarded with such joyous and funny cynicism.
Nabs, your eye for detail is great. Signs off as telling. I myself hadn't notioced it until you pointed it out.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what's next
A 'faithfully' maybe?
Anon (10:55) and Pennypup - It's a big question and she's using the game to find out information. I'm n0t sure that it's insidious as both as playing/uasing the dog persona to say and ask things that they they're cautious about in real life.
ReplyDeleteIndeed I think it's just another level of flirting.
That being said if Oftenbark was really sending the emails; I'd be quite excited about him also snooping on te relationship.
A love a good Dog-spy story.
:)
PS Sorry too much Xmas cheer for me this year.
Skeptic! haha I've been to Fugue before! If only i was the host, and not the guest. ..oh it is a painful place. I'm so glad to hear that a name for this place even exists!
ReplyDeleteWhat bastardry!
I have to admit the "additional level" of flirtage is good i think. I've found that the whole role playing can actually lead to a less vague/deceiving return to a real life relationship.. That is, things on the return come out a little more naturally. Still with a little hesitation. But a lot less without the angst. :) It's good to know he or she likes you on some level beyond the 'friends at arms length distance'
..Personally i'm kinda hoping it gets a little closer soon - the to and fro is making this reader quite weary haha
Also belated Merry Christmas to the fellow Olives!! Hope you are all enjoying the season :)
