  1. hmmm I just put a comment and it's not appearing. If it comes up twice I apologise. But otherwise, all I said was that the line

"PS I’ll be the one wearing the torn pages of L Ron Hubbard’s book as an Admiral’s hat."

was utter genius. This needed to be said.

  2. Ah the catholic guilt disguise. Damn you Marcus. Bet he's never made a hat out of a sham religion. What were you thinking Stacey???

    ReplyDelete
  3. here here... no matter who this marcus is ... he cannot hold a candle to our Dom....although he probably could hold a candle... not that hard really... but you take my point...admirals hat out of l.ron?...how can you not fall in love?...and perhaps that is Staceys problem... she is and can't bear it... so found the nearest bomb!!! rr

  4. Wow, reading these letters is almost an emotional upheaval and a calamity all at once. I have never been on such a roller coaster since ive been hooked on to this blog...

here i was thinking that blogs had said whatever they had to say... id stopped working on mine, id given up on those id religiously followed and now i now i dont have a right to be jaded anymore.. so thanks Stephen for helping me become a tad more positive

apropos the letters... i am not gonna say anything until after this meeting... though i am right now VERY tempted to try making a hat of mr hubbard's books lying around my bookstore

  5. Yeuuusss! How can Stacey pull this escape plan off? Seriously.. Dom is tha shet!!

PS. regarding banners - if this ends in heartbreak ill make a banner that screams "even if Stacey bailed, WE STILL LOVE YOU DOM!" And Stephen, in our usual style, i mean scream as in scream through our limo driver.
PPS. Stephen, we are so rolling back down the hill when we finish meeting the ladies (that headed for the hills) lol - hooray!!

  6. Hi Heidi - no it only appeared once. And you are a darl' as always. Wee prompt to those reading the comments. Heidi's blog is listed down the bottom of the page and well worth it. She's a real wit.

  7. Love it Jo'. I agree Marcus has never made a hat from a sham religion. Very funny.
(Though maybe he's made pointless hat - like a thin wool beanie)

    ReplyDelete
  8. rr, I actually can't hold a candle. It keeps burning my wicks...

(sorry but thought you deserved an old fashioned groaner)

  9. Ipshi, you are a wonder. Thank you so much. Your voice and thoughts are a truly welcomed addition to these comments.

And your tad postitivity has risen my level too.
I find it tough to be happy sometimes and when someones says - hey I'm feeling a little better -it makes all the difference.

    Thanks again.

  10. Hiranga - you're getting close to short hand replies because you're so damn cute. And thought we've never met - I have to say; 'I adore ya.'

  11. Now where's Duncan, John, Chris D, delightful ST, Lance, Jonathan and all those other lovely voices...?

  13. I can feel the bad news that Stacey may give Dom bubbling up in my stomach. The feeling of blood RUSHING from my face to the very bottom of my heart. Its happened to myself only once before, and let me tell you, its a feeling I'm never going to get comfortable with.

Thank you for your kind words, Stephen.

    ReplyDelete
  14. As this post is so short it is hard to comment other than to say wow. I am pretty sure I am falling in love with Dom. Then again I'm a silly romantic who enjoys when people are able to make witty banter in the midst of terrible situations. In this regard I love Stacey as well. But her impending betrayal and sudden turn around is looming as I say that. I hope she can be swayed as she was before.
    (ST)

  15. PS- Stephen, I enjoy that you think I'm delightful. Thank you for the mention.

  16. I agree with (ST), this is more of a build up into something down right amazing, or terrible. I'm not so well versed in literature, and so it took me a while (and a bit of wikipedia searches) to figure out what Dom meant.

To be honest, I'm still not precisely following here. Is Dom trying to say that Scientology and Catholicism are both terrible guises to hide behind? Or that he's going to take the standpoint of something akin to the ideology of Scientology? Or am I completely mistaken here?

    -- Jonathan H.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ugh my lack of proper grammar, and punctuation need revising. I intended to have a period after (ST) not a comma. And the word 'searches' meant to be 'searching'.

  19. @stephen - that was so sweet of you :)

@ST - I love witty people too... The Chandler kinds who seem to be able to smile when the world around seems to be collapsing, which it might be doing for Dom (NO PLZ NO)

@Jonathan H - Maybe he's just talking about the hilarity of hiding behind a religion? Maybe Scientology was the only one worth making fun of, according to him?

PS Jonathan H - I really love it when ppl are so offended by their own grammatical mistakes that they have spend time correcting it. Almost seems as if they would've always regretted not pointing it out. I do that ALL the time!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I correct my own grammar more than anyone I know!! I love that I can come here and express my thoughts and not be ridiculed or made fun of for saying such things. I love coming to this blog and commenting, thanks for noticing what I have to say.

  21. Also Ipshi I absolutely LOVE the friends reference, I think we should be friends :P
    (ST)
PS excuse me for the drunk commenting :S

    ReplyDelete
  22. @ST I absolutely LOVE that ur drunk-commenting!! Now I know we're gonna b great friends!! (trust me I do not use exclamation points so profusely unles I mean them!!)

    ReplyDelete
  23. ST, Ipshi and Jonathan, I don't proof enough. I apologise for typoos (sic) and stammer grammar.
I will attempt to lift my game.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jonathan, I think Dom is referring to Hubbard's bogus sea-faring rank along with his bogus cult
    (Sorry to any zetans reading).

I suspect he was being ironic and trying to defuse a tense situation with theological wit and thus continue wooing.

Perhaps subtexturally he is also attempting to do two things.
1: Find a safe ground by concurring to Stacey's values (nihilism and anti doctrine state)
2: Create a common enemy among the collectives so he isn't or she isn't.

Or am is my thinking tipping into the wanky?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oops poor proofing again (OR AM IS MY THINKING!!!??)
    Intention: Or is my thinking...

    ReplyDelete
  26. ST and Ipshi - please become friends. I'd love that. Best moment of my day. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Drunk commenting - most welcome.
And I agree - it does feel safe here
Testement to the values of those commenting.

And rest assured, I do check in daily and if there's a comment that critiques you, I'll remove it quickly.

    Critique me - please.
    Critique the content - please.
But keep your paws of the commenters, I say.

(Now I've come over all protective)

  29. @stephen - aww u sound like such a papa bear!! id like to think that there's no one out there who'd like to mess up such a wonderful forum where everyone seems to be truly connecting. Of course I'd like to see someone try... :)

also re the grammar thing... i dont mind others' faux pas... i merely chuckle like the pompous git i am... but it hurts if i goof up... like physically hurts when i leave a gaffe lingering in space for ex the hideousness of missing the 'to' in "they have spend time correcting it"!! ARGH!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. True, don't fuck with the papa bear!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. hahaha HAHAHA!!! STAMMER GRAMMER.. wankage. Excessive exclamations!! Drunk commenting!! Oh and these are a few of my favourite things!

Oh Stephen, you soo did not use the "c" word on me.. Yeah yeah you adore me, i adore you too.. Gosh you guys know how soften me up.

    ReplyDelete
  32. [pardon me for breaking out into song midway that last post.]

    ReplyDelete
  33. @hiranga -- id actually started humming that when i read ur first post and so consequently burst out laughing at your next post.

On a maybe related note, all my office colleagues have now confirmed their hypothesis that i'm a stark raving nutso

    ReplyDelete
  34. I can't get that song out of my head. Have to think of equally addictive song.

    (Beat)

Oh no - now I have the national anthem...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ipshi, a stark raving nutso hey!?? Tell your colleagues Hiranga says "that sounds completely normal. - Now get back to work!" :P -i've always wanted to say that hehehe

Hey it sounds like you may be on the right trail.. :) Give it a shot - you will never know, if you never give it a go.

PS. this is like a wild social experiment. it cracks me up - Stephen is this your grand master plan? Cos i must say, it is quite the grand and masterful :D This whole thing is evidence of humanity at its best, and it's worst. There is the tale of two characters.. and then *dum dum dummmm* there are the sub characters - each and every one of us fellow Olives.. and we present our own sub plots.. and -shit- I hope i haven't ruined something big.. I am going to silence my mind now.

Again. Blogging beyond midnight.. la la la Ok so im not insane, i just need some sleep. In any case, there is no such thing as pure sanity, so whatever - i should reeeally shut up now.

Goodnight fellow Olives! And Goodmorning to those of you who read onwards!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Stephen is here!!! Hooray!! Go to sleep Stephen. :))) As will i *massiv yawwwwwwwn*

    Goodnightus all!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. HAH!!! Now I KNOW ur in australia cos its midnight there!!! YEEHAWW!!

ahem ... (in my head) ok so its nice to know about fellow commentators... calm down... breathe... breathe...

oops.. did i really type it loud??

no but this conspiracy theory about stephen could be true... he was awfully interested in me and ST becoming friends... hmmm

    ReplyDelete
  38. If it truly is a conspiracy (which I would love as conspiracies are my favourite) I would be monstrously happy.
Ipshi- I really do think we should be friends. Even though our commonalities are only within grammar correction, I feel they have some meaning. :P
Hiranga- You're crazy but I love it
Stephen- Almost everything that you have ever mentioned here has made me smile. Keep up the good work Papa Bear!
PS Thank god I don't get hangovers!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Stephen, thanks for sort of clearing that up.

Wow guys (and girls, I suppose). I think a group hug is in order.

    --Jonathan H.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Stephen, I love you.
But clever comments aside this was not enough to quench the thirst I have for news from the Stacey/ Dom relationship.
Thus why I had not commented

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Ipshi - this is (still) hilarious - SOMEONE is a fully pro detective!! :|

Anon, a group hug sounds great - i'm bloody freezing over here!

    ReplyDelete
  42. @anonymous - i completely agree :) not to mention our love of friends :) who's ur fav character?

@hiranga - yea.. well... i rock (even though im the only one who might say that loud)

@everyone -- im always ready for a hug, especially if it is with guys/girls as awesome as this proverbial motley crew

    ReplyDelete
  43. lol Ipshi have you added me yet? or did you end up adding a random hahah!?? - i havent got the notification yet :S LOL - you silly girl.. :P

I'm itching for sunday to come!! Yet again!

    ReplyDelete
  44. @hiranga i havent added anyone... im too much of a fraidypants to add anyone to my list... least of all someone who's into the kind of music that particular profile is into...

its a metaphorical sunday where im at... enjoying a rare day off :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. reeally! what kind of music is it? I didnt realise i had listed any on my profile.. ??? Oh well, that's too bad - i really like my music :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. see maybe it isnt the same profile then... does it hav an artistic (read nearly naked) girl as a profile pic??

    ReplyDelete
  47. ahahaha Noooo! What kinda google are you using? :D :S!!

Clue: third last letter in my surname is "e"
PS, anyone else keen on the hunt, feel free to add me. That is, if you can find me ;) hehehe this is fun.

PPS.@ALL, just randomly a few colleagues of mine found a copy of L Ron Hubbard's book on Dianetics in our studio - no idea where it came from - but it looked like it had been passed through by many persons, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed defiling its pages with rather hilarious commentary lol I wonder where it is now..

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ok Hiranga, I have found you because I am awesome and that's just what I do. I am going to add you now. I'm just letting you know so that you won't be creeped out.
    (ST)

    ReplyDelete
  49. PS Ipshi, I tried to find you and it didn't work out. I might need more info :s

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hiranga, I wish I could claim it as part of a grand master plan but truthfully it's a delightful accident. I never anticipated such warmth and thought. Yes, I hoped for readers and hope for more. But if there's a possibility of others conencting with each other outside of blog that's such a reward.

Because it's all about connecting isn't it?
It's all about sitting around this Joe Strummer-like virtual bonfire and for a few small moments just enjoying the warmth.

    Marshmallows anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Andy, love ya too. How's it going in the cold north? ST country, I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Up for the group hug.

Ipshi, I can't imagine, Hiranga's profile dotted with such cliche. He's a nice boy.
And I too like the conspiracy theory - though I truly not that smart. However I did shoot JFK.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Fave Friends actor - Ms Anniston. Such a fine comic actor, I reckon. Not sure about her character but like her skill.

    ReplyDelete
  54. ST, Ipshi and Hiranga all becoming friends - yeahhhh!!! Perhaps an easy way of connecting is via the bored olives fan page on facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  55. And H' - I'd love to read some of those comments in your work place dianetics book.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Essex here (not that other Duncan). I think the "or am is my thinking..." form is perfect David Foster Wallace! Now there's a man who'd appreciate a narrative laid bare in a blog accompanied by a narrative of comments.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @hiranga and everyone else - he changed his profile pic!!! he did!! he did!! btw what does "yay it r mai berfdai" mean... sorry if im deeply dense

@ST - The names Ipshita ... hope that leads you to me... :)

@stephen - now's not the time to be modest papa bear... as you're roasting ur marshmallows and seeing the destruction u hav brought upon the world by friending such fiendish geniuses... rub ur hands with glee (the feeling, not a DVD set of the TV series!)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hello Duncan (Essex) I love David Foster Wallace. Just started reading Girl with Curious Hair.

Also I'm a little confused - the other Duncan is from Essex too. Or are you the other Duncan?
Now there's a narrative DFW would also appreciate.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ipshi - very funny - rubbing my hands in glee (dvd).

I could also rub my hands in ghee too.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Stephen- I just finished moving to a new place, it's super hot and the mosquitos are getting worse. It's starting to feel like Australia haha.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Rub your hands in ghee - i am in tears - ahahaha!!

Ipshi - i am soo sorry - THAT WAS ME with the naked girl on the dp!! But its not a naked girl! Its a naked guy! Or whatever it is - when i read your comment i read naked and thought you must have come across some profile with pornographic imagery or something so i TOTALLY dismissed that profile as being my own! LOL BUT THAT IS MINE haha - did you like the image? For everyone reading it's nothing gross - really beautiful artwork done by Cameron Gray @ http://parablevisions.com/blog/
..well, at least i think it is beautiful. :) Yes, the boredolives fanpage! Why didn't i think of that?!!? MMMM marshmellows.... yum yum

And yes i did change my picture recently, because, "yay it was my birthday" :P

Stephen, yes haha its quite an interesting read for the non-convert ;p I'll try and get my hands on it. That is if it has not been burnt or something.. Last time i saw, someone had used the hard cover as a cutting board to make a model :S

PS For any Scientologist's out there i must apologise in advance for any offense i've just caused - religion's touchy subject - probably shouldn't have raised it here. Anyway - my apologies.

    @ ST, you're in. :)

back @Papa bear- yes delightful accidents are rather delightful! Almost as delightful as rubbing your hands in glee.. only to find out it was in fact ghee. Hhaha i am not getting over this too soon loool The visuals are EPIC! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  62. hey Hiranga... so i am an awesome detective... u missed out on mentioning that while u gave a rather longwinded explanation of the naked guy artwork... (really did like it by the way, reminded me of these photographs taken by this indian guy of an angel... blah blah long story... but beautiful)

@ghee/glee -- ghee? seriously?? o my grandmom would hate to see precious ghee being used up like that... tho u cud say u wear trying to soften ur hands :)

@everyone -- its 4 in the morning here and i just cant sleep... i hope when i next get on the site... there's a new post waiting for me... i needs me my D&S action

    ReplyDelete
  63. Haha Ghee??? Oh my, I don't think you are going to live that one down anytime soon Papa Bear.
Ipshi- I have not been able to find you, it is quite a common name and the "people who like this page" link on Bored Olives is disabled. Therefore I can't click to search through there. :( First letter or at least one letter of last name?
Andy- Where exactly do you live? If you don't mind me asking that is.....
