…but I can’t help myself…I can see it’s going to be a few more days before you write…
Thank you so much for ringing…it was just what I need…it was such a surprise…so nice to hear your voice…and I will try and not be a needy girlfriend…and I understand that it’s a big deal for you…but sometimes I need a little more…but knowing you understand that...helps…
and I hope you don’t mind that I email you…
Going to bed now…

  1. Heartbreaking. Romantic love is about unquenchable needs quenched with ardor. Doesn't work at a distance or when two lives operate at different speeds. And thus the separation grows. As pain is suppressed under the guise of "understanding" -- an understanding that "this" isn't "this" anymore. And so the painful transition. By definition turmoil, because the dancers no longer dance. Unrequited love is as painful as love requited, when the love is made of assurances not ardor, and the relationship becomes an arrangement, a fact, and no longer an experience. So the question is: who do you want to be heartbroken with, or can you change and find your higher plateau? Stacey's going to have to climb.
